1) BMI Regional grows Copenhagen
Service
BMI
regional has boosted its services from Edinburgh to
Copenhagen, adding a third return flight on its route
from July 21st 2008. The airline will then have 18
return flights a week to the city from the Scottish
capital. The extra daily service will make it easier for
passengers to connect to destinations such as Oslo,
Helsinki, Stockholm and Tokyo on services operated by
the airline's Star Alliance partners.
2) BA ups fuel surcharge for
bigger spenders
British
Airways has responded to the current fuel crisis by
hiking its fuel surcharges for premium passengers. This
is the first time the carrier has changed one class
higher than another for the surcharge but says it is
"appropriate" as business and first class passengers
have more space and luggage allowance. First
class, Club World and World Traveller Plus passengers
will now pay up to £24 more per flight than economy
travellers.
3) Ryanair in UK regional
expansion
Ryanair is adding new flights from Liverpool and
East Midlands this Winter. Four new routes will be
served from Liverpool from October to Gdansk, Scezecin,
Knock & Faro, increasing the airline's network at
Merseyside airport. Three new routes from East
Midlands to Faro, Fuerteventura and Prague will bring
the number of destinations served by the airline up to
38. Ryanair's Bridget Dowling said the four new
routes from Liverpool will mean an extra 210,000
passengers a year travelling to and from
Liverpool.
4) Etihad adds service
Etihad Airlines has announced it will expand services in October to the
UK and add a third daily flight from its
Abu Dhabi home base to London's
Heathrow airport. The total number of Etihad flights at Heathrow
will now increase from 17 to 21
services per week and the airline also has a
daily rotation to its only
other UK destination, Manchester. "It is great news
that Etihad will shortly operate a third
daily flight between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow,
the world's busiest international airport," said Etihad
Airways executive vice president Geert
Boven.
5) Air New
Zealand keeps
entertaining
Air New
Zealand passengers flying
to and from London Heathrow to Los Angeles,
Hong Kong or Auckland will be the first
to use a new service which allows access
to the in-flight entertainment system from boarding until landing.
Previously the entertainment system could not be turned on
until the aircraft was airborne and was
turned off again when cabin crew prepared to
land. Air New Zealand's short haul fleet of Boeing
767 and A320 aircraft will be fitted with
new on-demand touch screen entertainment providing the same
boarding to landing entertainment facilities. All Air New Zealand's
international short and long-haul aircraft will have personal
seat-back entertainment by
December.

Matrix Travel Management Receive Silver
Payroll Giving
Award!

Matrix
Travel Management are now enrolled
with the Payroll Giving organisation. It is the first
step towards creating a culture of giving in the
workplace. In 2007, more than 640,000 people in
the UK gave to their selected charities
through Payroll Giving. This generated £90
million between April 2006 and
March 2007. Payroll Giving provides charities
with ongoing and regular income, reducing the need to
spend crucial donations on fundraising. And because
charities know that this money is coming in month after
month, they can plan much further ahead to provide their
services now and in the future.
